There’s something particularly satisfying about finding a fragrance that smells expensive without actually costing a fortune.
And if you’ve ever loved Stella McCartney Stella, you may already know that finding an affordable alternative that captures the same beautiful character isn’t necessarily as straightforward as it sounds.
So when I came across Perfume Parlour Star Lady, I wanted to find out whether this fragrance really could be a good Stella McCartney Stella dupe – or whether you’re better off sticking with the original.
I put Star Lady to the test, comparing it with the original fragrance and wearing it to see how it develops and how long it lasts.

What is Perfume Parlour Star Lady?
Perfume Parlour is known for creating affordable fragrance alternatives inspired by well-known and popular perfumes.
That makes it an interesting option if you love designer fragrances but don't necessarily want to pay designer prices – particularly if you're someone who enjoys having lots of different perfumes in your collection.
Star Lady is one of the fragrances in the Perfume Parlour range that is designed as an alternative to Stella McCartney Stella.
But there's an important question when it comes to any fragrance dupe:
Does it actually smell like the perfume it's trying to replicate?
Because an affordable perfume doesn't have to be an exact clone to be worthwhile. What matters is whether it gives you a similar overall experience and whether you enjoy wearing it.
Stella McCartney Stella – the original
Stella McCartney Stella has developed something of a following among fragrance lovers, particularly for its distinctive floral character.
If you've worn the original, you'll know that it's not simply another generic floral perfume. It has its own personality, which is exactly why I was interested to see how Star Lady would compare.
When testing a perfume dupe, I like to consider more than that initial spray.
The first impression can be very similar between two fragrances, only for them to become noticeably different as they develop on the skin.
That's why a proper wear test is so useful.
How does Star Lady compare with Stella McCartney Stella?
This was the part I was most curious about.
When comparing a fragrance dupe with the original, I look at several things:
How similar are they immediately after spraying?
How does each fragrance develop over time?
Are there noticeable differences once they've dried down?
How is the longevity?
Does Star Lady give me the same overall feeling as the original?
And, perhaps most importantly, would I actually wear it instead of Stella?
Because let's be honest – a fragrance can smell lovely in its own right but still not be a particularly convincing dupe.
And that's something I explore in my video.
My Perfume Parlour Star Lady wear test
One of the things I think is particularly important when reviewing affordable perfume alternatives is longevity.
It's no good finding a fragrance that smells gorgeous when you first spray it if it's disappeared from your skin an hour later.
Of course, fragrance longevity can vary considerably from person to person depending on things such as skin type, application and even the weather.
So rather than simply judging Star Lady from the first spray, I wore it and followed how it developed.
Did it last? Did the scent change significantly? And how did it compare with Stella McCartney Stella throughout the wear test?

Is Perfume Parlour Star Lady worth trying?
This is where things get interesting.
When you're considering a perfume dupe, I don't think the question should simply be:
"Does it smell exactly the same?"
Instead, I'd ask:
"Do I enjoy this fragrance, and does it give me enough of the character I love in the original to make it worth buying?"
For some people, getting incredibly close to the original will be essential.
For others, an affordable fragrance that has a similar vibe and can be worn every day without worrying about using up an expensive bottle could be exactly what they're looking for.
And that's ultimately what I wanted to establish with Star Lady.
So… is it the best Stella McCartney Stella dupe?
